Penhaligon's Trade Routes

At the beginning of the 19th century there was lively to the London docks. All of what was exotic, rare and precious, was traded here. The rarest treasures from the farthest corners of the world piled up in the crowd on the wharf and met daily more thereof. The camps were full of spices, silk, rare woods, tea, fine porcelain, precious metals and jewels. London was in a frenzy. London was the storehouse of the world.

The preciousness and elegance of the goods that were traded in the London Docks, inspired Penhaligon's fragrance collection to the "TRADE ROUTES"

Penhaligon’s Lothair

Perfumer Betrand Duchaufour got his inspiration for this fragrance by the famous eponymous sailboat, on which exotic goods from all over the world found their way into the English depots. It was built in 1870 in Lavender Dock in London's East End - the same year founded William Henry Penhaligon his barbershop. Well, if that is not a coincidence!

With this fragrance Bertrand Duchaufour has created an adventurous and bold aroma of rich exotic woods. "Lothair" opens with the slightly salty flavor of grapefruit and juniper and the clear green of fig leaves. The smoky heart of black tea is rounded off by the soft notes of fig milk and magnolia. Ambergris, cedar and wenge wood form the base of the fragrance.

Penhaligon’s “Empressa”

What can a woman of the world adore more than the beauty and purity of the pearl, as the elegance and grace of silk? - Perfumer Mike Parrott’s fragrance creation "Empressa"!

The feminine composition shines with juicy notes of blood orange, blackberry and peach, accented by a touch of pink pepper. The delicate pink rose and the soft white of orange blossom blooming in the heart of the fragrance, accompanied by a sensual, warm fund which gives the fragrance its depth.

Penhaligon’s „Levantium“

“Levantium” represents the East - the exotic realm of sensual pleasure, in which the most precious goods are originated. A fragrance like a tale from "Thousand and One Nights" Christian de Provenzano used in this opulent scent arrangement Levantium generously the various goods from London's stores , which were filled to bursting with rum and spices , flowers , woods and resins .

The intoxicating scent fascinate with composition of a shot of rum and absinthe in the top note. Rounding out the tantalizing heat of saffron unfolds gradually an opulent , floral bouquet of rose, jasmine and ylang-ylang. The luxurious base from smoky Oud gives the fragrance a certain something.
